1. Tour of Nanjing- Explore the former capitol of China and see the splender of the conquest of Zhu Yuanzhang (1356).
2. Garrisons- Take a walk through the old garrisons that were stationed on the northern border of Nanjing. See how the soldiers had to sustain themselves though subsistence farming.
3. The Forbidden City- After Chengzu took his father's throne he relocated the capitol to Beijing. More specifically, the new palace was known as the Forbidden City and had close to 10,000 rooms. The palace still survives today and offers large assortments of audience halls and courtyards where officials would stand or kneel.
4. Meet the Mongols- Finally meet the people who constantly attacked the people of the Ming Dynasty and almost took the country. In fact, in 1449 the khan of the Western Mongols captured the Chinese emperor, and in 1550 Beijing was surrounded by the forces of the khan of Inner Mongol.
5. The Great Wall- Run a marathon along the wall for the poor children of the Ming. Don't worry, you don't really have to run 1,500 miles from northeastern Beijing to the Gansu province! It will be 2 miles from start to finish and will display areas where the Mongols tried to attack.
6. Civil Service Examinations- Take a tour at the prefecture, provincial, and capital levels of the examinations to become officials. Children would study all their lives for the opportunity and would often have to learn different languages! We even hold a mock-test to see if you're smart enough to become an official and rule China.
